Shadow Aspect

This is a group of collages to imagine our shadow side. It’s said that within our subconscious mind reside the darkness, dragons and addictions, but also great power, creativity and potency. Getting curious about the quirky parts of ourselves that are instinctive and often irrational is a brave and rewarding journey. These works offer glimpses of the shadow persona doing funky things like watering a cactus instead of a wilting rose. I combined studio photography of the shadow “persona” with casual snapshots, manually collaged magazine cutouts, and various scanned material from books and drawings. To suggest the deep undercurrents we pick up from our family, cultural and social conditioning. The images are intended to offer playful reminders to expand self-awareness and move us toward deeper love.
